Website Impersonations: The Ten Most Visited is
a Live Performance Series choreographed by Web code.
In these ten performances the "character" of a Website is embodied by (a) performer(s) who translate(s) the site's HTML code, which is fed in from the Web "on the fly",
into movements. In the earlier works I performed by myself: The movement instructions I was to follow derived from the html-movement-library, an online database of
user-submitted movement suggestions. In the recent performances the code is first interpreted by a solo-dancer into new movements, then, these movements are described
in short sentences by the (live) audience or myself and saved into the library, to be reused on stage for the other dancers and performers to follow. The html-movement-library
is part video-based / part text-based. Website Impersonations: The Ten Most Visited were performed within three years - from 2006 to 2009.
